Banda de death metal de Suecia, pioneros del "Sonido Gotemburgo" o "death metal melódico". Siguiendo la tradición de Dissection, At the Gates combinaba brutales vocales con una sección de ritmos a muy altos tiempos, pero lo mas destacable fueron las guitarras que eran devastantes pero tenían melodía al mismo tiempo, tratando de emular el sonido de Iron Maiden. La obra más trascendental de esta banda fue el álbum "Slaughter of the Soul" del año 1995. Actualmente los miembros de la banda se separaron, siguiendo caminos propios, e incluso formando bandas que también son muy exitosas como The Haunted o los varios proyectos del ex-vocalista de la banda, Tomas Lindberg: The Great Deceiver, The Crown, Lock-up etc.
